2. What information we collect
We process the following information about our customers:

  • Contact details: name, shipping and billing address, email address and phone number.
  • Order information: purchased products, order total, payment method, shipping method, and any returns or cancellations.
  • Customer account information: if you create an account, your username and account settings.
  • Communications: messages you send us by email or other means.
  • Device and usage data: IP address, browser and device information, and information about how you use the online store. Some of this information is collected using cookies (see section 6).

We do not see or store your payment card number. Payment details are processed by the payment service provider.

3. Why we process your information and on what legal basis

  • Processing and delivering orders: we need your information to deliver your order, process payments, handle returns and provide customer service. Legal basis: performance of a contract.
  • Accounting and legal obligations: we retain order and payment information as required by the Finnish Accounting Act. Legal basis: legal obligation.
  • Store operation and security: we use information to maintain the store, prevent misuse and improve our service. Legal basis: legitimate interest.
  • Advertising: we may use advertising, such as Meta and Google ads. Tracking-based advertising is only used if you have accepted marketing cookies. Legal basis: consent.

We do not send newsletters or marketing emails. We will, however, always send messages related to your order, such as order and shipping confirmations.

4. Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal data. We only share information with the service providers we need to run the store:

  • Shopify: e-commerce platform and order processing.
  • Payment service providers: payment processing.
  • Shipit and carriers (e.g. Posti and Matkahuolto): order delivery. The carrier receives your name, address and phone number.
  • Zoho: email service for customer communications.
  • Advertising services (e.g. Meta and Google): only if you have accepted marketing cookies.

We may also disclose information to authorities where required by law.

5. Transfers outside the EU
Some of our service providers, such as Shopify, may process data outside the EU and EEA. Such transfers are protected by safeguards approved by the EU, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision by the Commission.

6. Cookies
The online store uses cookies. Essential cookies are needed, for example, for the shopping cart and checkout to work, and do not require consent. Analytics and marketing cookies are only used with your consent, which you can give or withdraw through the cookie banner.

7. How long we keep your information

  • Order and billing information: 6 years from the end of the year in which the financial period ended, in accordance with the Finnish Accounting Act.
  • Customer account: until you delete your account or ask us to delete it.
  • Customer service messages: as long as needed to handle the matter, but no longer than two years, unless the law requires a longer retention period.

8. Your rights
You have the right to:

  • know what information we process about you and receive a copy of it
  • request correction of inaccurate information
  • request deletion of your information, unless we are legally required to keep it
  • object to or request restriction of the processing of your information
  • transfer the information you have provided to another service
  • withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.

You can exercise your rights by sending a message to jesse@latkakortit.fi. We may ask you to verify your identity before processing your request. We will respond to requests within one month at the latest.

Shopify also processes some data for its own purposes. For more information, see Shopify's privacy policy at privacy.shopify.com.

9. Right to lodge a complaint
If you believe your information is being processed unlawfully, you can lodge a complaint with the Office of the Data Protection Ombudsman in Finland (tietosuoja.fi). However, we hope you will contact us first so we can resolve the matter.

10. Changes
We may update this policy, for example due to changes in legislation or in our operations. The current version is always available in the online store, and the date of the latest update is shown at the top of this policy.
